Where the life of another is taken with deliberate action on the part of the accused.   There are several types of murder and which one a person is charged with depends on the circumstances surrounding the crime in question.  A charge of murder is extremely serious.  Usually when someone has been murdered, they look first at family and friends.  Most people who are murdered have been killed by those they know.  Contrary to popular fiction, murders done by a stranger are rare.  Murders committed with premeditation, a sexual component or a hate crime component are generally tried with the idea of either life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
