CALIFORNIA HOMICIDE

Where the life of another is take either by accident or design.  Homicide can be involuntary, as in by accident.  The charges can range from involuntary manslaughter all the way up to premeditated with special circumstances.  The police will often look at those closest to the deceased as the first possible suspects.  Statistically, it is usually someone that the victim knows that is responsible for their death.  This means that even if you are simply being questioned regarding the crime in question, you are at risk of being arrested.  Make sure that you do not speak to the police even without having charges leveled against you without your lawyer present.

It is important that you never admit to your crime, especially without legal council present.  Pay attention to your Miranda rights and refrain from speaking.  Especially make sure that you do not speak before Miranda has been read to you, or what you say may be used against you.  Make sure that as soon as you are arrested, you arrange for your Lawyer to meet you at the police station.  Your lawyer can be there to help you through the process of questioning and arraignment.  Even if you are guilty of the crime of which you are accused you are entitled to legal representation by an Attorney.

Homicide is one of the most serious crimes of which you can be accused.  You can be sentenced to anywhere from 5 years to life imprisonment or even death depending on the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.    Even if the case against you is circumstantial in nature, you stand a good chance of being convicted.  This is why it is imperative that you retain a lawyer as soon as possible.  Your lawyer can help you investigate the crime of which you have been accused and provide for the best possible legal defense he can during your trial.
